Breathe a Little Better

January is here and just about everyone is looking to re-commit to their workout routines. As a personal trainer, I know all too well about setting goals for clients and helping them reach them. Lately I have been sharing a big secret with them on a very simple but effective way to breathe easier during their workouts. And no, it’s not a magic pill or supplement, it’s something even easier and less expensive. And, it’s something that I use, too!

Last year I learned the importance of taking my workouts outside and I am super excited to say it’s now a habit on warmer days. Running with my dog Duke is always my go-to when the weather is just right. One struggle I have had is that I live at almost 5,000 ft altitude and  feel like I can’t always breathe easily through my nose. A few years ago I even trained and ran a full marathon but didn’t continue to run long distances because I was always having issues breathing through my nose). But here is something that works for me that I want to share with you – Breathe Right® nasal strips make breathing so much easier! Did you know that using nasal strips can increase nasal airflow by up to 31%? Now those are some odds that I like.

I recently passed by these at my local retailer and I saw that Breathe Right is the #1 pharmacist recommended nasal strip. The first time I put it on, I felt a rush of air! The purpose of the nasal strips is to open your nose for easier breathing, which really comes in handy when you are exercising.

I have to be honest, I was intimidated to put them on but it was super easy if you follow these simple steps:

  1. Make sure you wash your face and dry it well. If your skin is wet, the strip will not stick.
  2. Peel the backing off the nasal strip and place it right above your nostrils. You can even flare your nostrils and then place them just right above.
  3. Press gently on the strip. You can even hold the ends for a few seconds to secure it.
  4. That’s it! You are done. Removal is a cinch, just grab one of the ends and slowly peel off.

Who are these strips for? Pretty much anyone! But if you struggle with nasal congestion, allergies or even have a deviated septum you are a perfect candidate for the Breathe Right strips. These can easily be found at your local favorite retailer in the cough/cold section and you can also click here for some coupons and a sample.
